Lane Concepts was
founded in 1995 in Stockton, CA. by Exactacator / VISE
founder,
Jim Nesbitt. At that time it was very obvious that
advancement of the new cover stocks in bowling balls was
creating a need for a "High Linage Lane Oil" that could
hold up to the properties of the new equipment.
After considerable time, and a
good 6-figure investment, the first high linage lane oil "C1"
was finalized and brought to market in 1996. To help
promote C1's breakthrough technology, Sam Baca and Lenny
Nicholson were brought into the company. Both were known
worldwide for their knowledge of lane maintenance and their
long history in the sport of bowling.
C1 became an instant hit, much
like it still is today. C1's promise to prevent
breakdown and carrydown, even with the Resin coverstocks, held
true. Despite the many advancements since 1996, the PBA
Tour's biggest 3-game block (850) and 4-game block (1129) on
TV is still owned by Lane Concepts and C1 (courteously of Bob
Learn) back in 1996. The five TV bowlers averaged an
incredible 276.50 for their 8 games.
(Here's
the link to the PBA archive showing the tournament.)
In 1996, Sam & Lenny were
enticed to start their own lane oil business and left Lane
Concepts. Sam went to Lane Masters and eventually Lenny ended up at Kegel Corp to
develop their line of lane maintenance products. Lane
Concepts has had this much impact on the bowling world.
Mr. Nesbitt, realized his
primary role as President of a rapidly growing business at
Exactacator Inc, did not leave him much time to manage a
successful lane oil business, and he sold the company to a
local group of bowlers, led by local Hal-Of-Famer and legend Marty Lane..
Mr. Lane filled the role as
company President, a position he held for 11 years until
2007. Marty has over 40 years in the services industry
and is widely recognized in the bowling community as one the
most knowledge individuals in the game. He was the
youngest member, when inducted at the age of 38, into the
Stockton California Bowlers Hall of Fame, and has been
involved in many aspects of the bowling arena his entire life.
His knowledge of lane conditions, bowling equipment, and what
is necessary to achieve success in the sport are well
documented.
Marty also acts the Chief R&D Officer and is credited with the
development of most of the current product lines you see today.
In 1998 a new oil product C2
was rolled out. C2 filled a need by being virtually
clear and soon became Lane Concepts best selling product.
In 1999, Lane Concepts broke
into the Pro Shop market by releasing a new technology ball
plugging material, named simply, "Lane Concepts Ball Plug.
The product was an immediate hit, as it solved virtually all
issues that pro shop professionals were having when attempting
to plug the new generation bowling equipment. Gone were
the issues of Cracking, Chipping, Pin Holes, and Yellowing.
Along with the plug, other plug products were also released.
Things remained calm until
2002, when Marty moved the business to the (99% sunny) High
Desert of So. California. At that time Marty's younger
brother Paul, was brought into the fold as a co-owner.
Retiring from his cushy Executive Management position in Orange
County CA, Paul became the Executive VP of Lane Concepts, and
was tasked with adding new products and bringing the Lane
Concepts name to more people.
2003 was a big year in Lane
Concepts. The release of eight new products: SYN-PRO™ lane
oil, EXTREME 12-1 lane cleaner, EXTREME CLEAN, Bowling Ball
Cleaner, EXTREME DULL Bowling Ball Reconditioner, EXTREME
SHINE Bowling Ball Polish, 1-HR Quick Plug, (Resin Based),
6-HR Ball Plug all have been a huge success.
2004 started off great as
Lane Concepts added one of the biggest names in the bowling business
to our team,
Dino Depasquale, as the Director of
Sales. Dino has 30+ yrs in the bowling business, 14 years at Innovative Bowling Supply, and
was widely
known as the guy to talk to if you had pro shop questions.
Also, picking up distributorships with VISE, Innovative, Jayhawk, and Haus has rounded out our pro shop product line.
2007 saw Lane Concepts facilitate its specialization into
the lane maintenance field, by spinning off its pro shop division as
Pro's Choice, as well as the promotion of Paul Lane to the
office of President, and Dino Depasquale to the position of
Sales Vice President. These changes greatly benefited
the growth of the company as Lane Concepts once again obtained
record sales for the 5th consecutive year.
In 2008, Lane
Concepts enters its
14th year in the bowling business by releasing the next
generation of lane maintenance products; LUBRICITY Lane
Conditioner and SUPREME Max PH Lane Cleaner, thus continuing
our presence as the recognized leader specializing in lane maintenance
products throughout the world. Mastering the core
competencies of utmost integrity, superior customer support,
and proven demand for perfection has led us to achieve a
tremendous infusion of loyalty from our customers, and is
paving the way for Lane Concepts to be the fastest growing
company in the bowling industry.
We believe that
in the long run, superior products and good people do make the
